On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) experienced substantial disruptions, leading to the cancellation of 35 flights. This widespread grounding of flights was directly caused by Cyclone Montha’s approach towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, which brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to the region.
Airlines serving vital coastal destinations were hit particularly hard. IndiGo was the most affected carrier, accounting for a staggering 30 cancellations—15 arrivals and 15 departures. Routes connecting Hyderabad with cities such as Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, and Vijayawada were among those most severely impacted by the cyclonic weather.
Air India Express also reported cancellations, specifically two inbound flights (IX 2745, IX 2744 from Visakhapatnam) and three outbound flights (IX 2885, IX 2819 to Visakhapatnam, and IX 2743 to Vijayawada).
Airport authorities confirmed that passengers had been proactively informed by their respective airlines about these schedule changes. Both IndiGo and Hyderabad Airport had issued public advisories via social media, urging travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airports in the affected regions and to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
