As the deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal strengthened into Cyclonic Storm Montha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued critical weather alerts for Telangana. An orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall, is in effect for three districts, while a yellow alert, warning of heavy rainfall, covers an additional 15 districts for Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The IMD predicts that Cyclone Montha will make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast, specifically between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada, during the evening or night of October 28, impacting the region as a severe cyclonic storm.
The latest bulletin from the IMD highlights a high likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds, in isolated areas of Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Mulugu districts.
Furthermore, isolated pockets in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhongir, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Nagarkurnool districts are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.
In addition to heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are anticipated in isolated locations across Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Yadadri Bongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Nagarkurnool districts.
For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the next 24 hours are expected to bring generally cloudy skies. Residents should prepare for light to moderate rain or thundershowers, potentially accompanied by gusty winds. Mist or hazy conditions are also likely to persist during morning and nighttime hours, with maximum temperatures around 32°C and minimum temperatures around 23°C.
