The cyclonic storm, named ‘Montha’, is expected to intensify into a ‘severe cyclonic storm’ by October 28 as it moves closer to the coast.

Cyclone Montha’s Landfall:
The IMD forecasts that Cyclone Montha will move northwestwards over the Bay of Bengal and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 28. It is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada, during the evening or night of October 28. The cyclone is predicted to have sustained wind speeds of 90-100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph.
Andhra Pradesh on Red Alert:
The IMD has issued a red alert for several districts in Andhra Pradesh, including Kakinada, Kona Seema, Eluru, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Baptala, Prakasam, and SPSR Nellore, as the cyclone is expected to make landfall in the region.
