On Monday, District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya conducted an extensive tour of Tenali division, visiting various regions anticipated to bear the brunt of Cyclone Montha. Her primary objective was to assess the on-the-ground situation and meticulously review the ongoing relief and preparedness measures being implemented in anticipation of the cyclone’s impact.
During her inspection, Collector Ansariya meticulously examined crucial waterways, including the Buckingham Canal at Kolakaluru in Duggirala mandal and the Nizampatnam Canal at Nandivelugu. She also checked the water levels and flow dynamics of the East and West Canals. Emphasizing proactive measures, she issued clear directives to officials, urging continuous vigilance and monitoring to effectively prevent potential flooding in low-lying and susceptible areas.
A team of senior officials accompanied Ms. Ansariya, including Tenali Sub-Collector Sanjana Sinha, Joint Director of Agriculture Ayitha Nageswara Rao, District Civil Supplies Manager K. Tulasi, Water Resources Department Supervising Engineer Venkata Ratnam, along with local tahsildars and other administrative personnel, demonstrating a unified approach to disaster management.
Further extending her oversight, Ms. Ansariya toured key rehabilitation centers across the district, specifically visiting facilities in Athota, Vallabhapuram, Atmakur, and Kothapeta in Mangalagiri. Here, she thoroughly reviewed the logistical arrangements and resources available to ensure the secure and comfortable temporary accommodation for residents evacuated from high-risk, low-lying zones.
The Collector underscored the critical importance of inter-departmental collaboration, stressing that seamless coordination among all agencies is paramount. This unified effort is essential to deliver timely relief and safeguard both lives and property as the district navigates the ongoing challenges posed by Cyclone Montha.
