The Cyberabad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) recently concluded a focused week-long operation, spanning from October 26 to 31. This targeted effort resulted in the arrest of five individuals and the successful rescue of three victims from human trafficking.
Complementing these efforts, the AHTU also carried out night raids specifically addressing activities under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), which led to the apprehension of nine transgenders.
Simultaneously, the proactive Cyberabad She Teams executed a significant 142 decoy operations. These operations were aimed at curbing indecent acts in public spaces and resulted in 76 arrests. Among these, 51 individuals faced petty cases, while the remainder received counseling. The She Teams also provided assistance to 17 women who reported various forms of harassment throughout the week.
Beyond enforcement, the Women and Child Safety Wing demonstrated its commitment to community welfare. Through its Family Counselling Centres and the Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women (CDEW), 29 estranged couples were successfully reunited, highlighting effective conflict resolution.
In a bid to foster a safer community, both the AHTU and She Teams organized extensive awareness and prevention programs. These initiatives reached approximately 223 participants across different locations in Cyberabad.
The sessions covered a wide array of crucial topics including human and child trafficking, eve teasing, online harassment, child marriages, child labor, stalking, begging, cyber bullying, and various online frauds. Crucially, participants were also informed about vital emergency and helpline numbers, such as 181 for women, 1098 for children, and 1930 for cyber crimes.
