Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has officially distanced itself from a purported event named ‘Profcon,’ which was reportedly linked to the upcoming ‘Wisdom conference’ in Mangaluru this October.
This decisive clarification was issued following the circulation of a video that suggested a conference, allegedly part of the ‘Profcon’ event, was held for university students on September 15. CUSAT has categorically dismissed this information as unfounded and inaccurate, asserting that it has neither organized nor endorsed any event by the name of ‘Profcon,’ and any suggestions of the university’s involvement are entirely false.
University officials further stated that the misleading information included photographic evidence depicting gender-segregated seating arrangements, thereby implying gender bias. “We want to make it unequivocally clear that these allegations are not only baseless but also deeply misleading. CUSAT is built on the pillars of equality and inclusivity, and we absolutely do not support or organize events that promote any form of discrimination,” the communication from the university affirmed.
CUSAT reiterated that no event titled ‘Profcon’ has ever been hosted or endorsed by the university, whether in conjunction with the Wisdom conference in Mangaluru or any other location. The university urged all concerned parties, including media organizations and students, to verify facts diligently before sharing or publishing any claims, thereby preventing the spread of misinformation.
