P. Madhusudhan Reddy, the Director of Municipal Administration, recently visited Cuddalore to assess the advancement of several crucial development projects. These initiatives are being spearheaded by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department.
During his visit, Mr. Reddy engaged in detailed discussions regarding the status of various ongoing works. A significant focus was placed on the underground drainage system, currently underway in 12 wards of Cuddalore Corporation. This extensive project involves laying 148.70 km of pipelines, designed to provide improved sanitation to 14,134 households.
He issued clear instructions to officials, stressing the importance of completing these projects on schedule. He also emphasized minimizing public inconvenience by promptly repairing roads that have been disrupted by the pipeline installation.
Further inspections included the construction progress of 122 new shops at Anna Market, a project valued at ₹5.03 crore, as well as a new market facility in New Town, estimated at ₹5.27 crore.
Additionally, Mr. Reddy reviewed plans for environmentally friendly temporary structures aimed at securing Blue Flag certification for Silver Beach. Progress on the 24×7 water supply initiative under the Amrut 2.0 scheme, costing ₹28.67 crore, and the development of a modern bus terminus in Arisiperiyankuppam, budgeted at ₹36 crore, were also part of his comprehensive review.
He reiterated his directive to officials across all departments under MAWS to ensure all projects are completed within their specified deadlines and to maintain vigilant oversight throughout the process.
The review meeting saw the participation of Cuddalore District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, alongside other key officials from relevant departments.
