In a thrilling announcement from Dubai, Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj has been honored as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2025. This prestigious recognition comes after his remarkable performance in the decisive fifth and final Test match against England, where his heroic efforts secured a memorable victory for India.
Siraj’s stellar contribution on the dramatic final morning of the Test series was instrumental. He scalped three crucial wickets, bringing his match tally to nine, which paved the way for India to draw the series 2-2. His impactful spells, particularly during pivotal moments, showcased his talent and resilience against a formidable batting lineup on their home turf. “It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month,” Siraj shared. “The Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy was an unforgettable series, one of the most intense contests I’ve ever been a part of. I am incredibly proud that I could make significant contributions with vital spells, especially when it mattered most. Facing a top-tier batting side in their own conditions was challenging, but it truly brought out the best in me.”
Joining Siraj in receiving the monthly accolade is Ireland’s sensational all-rounder, Orla Prendergast, who was named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month. Prendergast outshone Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali and the Netherlands’ seam bowler Iris Zwilling to clinch the award.
Prendergast’s outstanding form saw her earn the Player of the Series title in a home T20I clash where Ireland triumphed 2-1 over Pakistan. Throughout that series, she amassed 144 runs and claimed four wickets. She seamlessly carried this exceptional performance into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, ending August with an impressive aggregate of 244 runs and seven wickets. Her consistent brilliance made her a clear choice for this esteemed recognition.
