In a significant development for Indian cricket, former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas was unanimously elected as the new President of the BCCI during the annual general meeting held in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Manhas, a celebrated all-rounder, now steps into the prestigious role as the 37th president of the Board, following the resignation of Roger Binny last month upon reaching the age of 70. His election was a consensus decision, emerging from an informal gathering of the Board’s key decision-makers earlier this month in New Delhi.
Manhas brings a wealth of experience from his extensive playing career, which spanned from the 1997-98 season to 2016-17. During this period, he featured in 157 First-Class matches, 130 List A games, and 55 IPL encounters. His impressive statistics include a remarkable 9,714 First-Class runs, adorned with 27 centuries, alongside 4,126 runs in List A cricket, underscoring his deep understanding and contribution to the sport.
