K.J. Shine, a distinguished leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and a former Left Democratic Front candidate for the Ernakulam Parliament constituency in the last general election, has publicly announced her intention to formally address a widespread social media defamation campaign targeting her. She will submit petitions to the Chief Minister, the State Women’s Commission, and the State Police Chief, citing these as deliberate attempts by alleged right-wing social media accounts to malign her reputation.
In a powerful Facebook post shared on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Ms. Shine directly accused these right-wing entities of orchestrating a defamatory campaign, maliciously using her name and photograph. She asserted that this aggressive online activity stems from a sense of desperation within right-wing political circles, which, she believes, are currently facing internal discord and have lost considerable standing within Kerala society.
“The insidious politics of debauchery, decay, and cowardice, designed to dismantle me both politically and personally, will be met with firm political and legal resistance,” Ms. Shine declared in her post. She passionately highlighted the profound psychological and social impact that such vile misinformation campaigns have, not only on the targeted individual but also on their spouse, children, relatives, friends, and professional colleagues. Expressing her steadfast confidence, she appealed to the broader society and the administrative bodies to intervene decisively, thereby reaffirming public service as a rightful and secure domain for women in all spheres.
