The Communist Party of India (CPI) has officially pledged its support for Monday’s ‘bandh’ (strike) in Kalaburagi. This call to action, spearheaded by the Kalyana Karnataka Raitha Horata Samiti, is a direct protest against the State government’s perceived inaction and failure to deliver adequate relief to the region’s flood-stricken districts.
During a press conference held on Sunday, Mahesh Kumar Rathod, the CPI’s district secretary, urged for the protest to remain entirely peaceful. He underscored the importance of keeping disruptive or criminal elements away from the demonstration, stating, “Our objective is a peaceful protest. We are concerned that individuals masquerading as farm activists might attempt to discredit our efforts. We must remain vigilant.”
CPI members did not mince words, accusing the State government of utterly failing to assist flood victims in the Kalaburagi district. They specifically called upon Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge to intervene promptly and ensure the immediate release of a comprehensive relief package for the affected families.
