In a startling incident in Hyderabad’s Ghatkesar area, a cow vigilante, identified as Sonu, was shot by individuals believed to be part of a cow smuggling mafia. Sonu had reportedly been lured to the location under the pretext of receiving information about cow transportation. However, upon arrival, he was fired upon and sustained critical injuries. He is currently in the hospital, fighting for his life.
Sonu’s mother expressed her anguish, stating her willingness to sacrifice more sons for the cause of cow protection, a mission Sonu has been dedicated to for the past 5-6 years. She has appealed to the government for the swift arrest of those responsible.
Political Reactions Erupt
The incident quickly drew strong reactions from BJP leaders in Hyderabad. BJP leader Madhavi Latha pointed fingers at the AIMIM, alleging a connection between the perpetrators and the party. She claimed to have identified the shooter and urged for immediate justice, challenging authorities to ensure swift action.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy condemned the incident, highlighting alleged police complicity in allowing mafia activities to flourish. He stated that this appears to be the first such incident in Telangana and stressed the police’s responsibility in curbing such activities, suggesting a lack of diligence and potential collusion.
State BJP President N Ramchander Rao echoed these sentiments, suggesting the attack was a deliberate attempt by “AIMIM goons” to deter BJP and RSS workers from their cow protection efforts. He condemned the attack and criticized the police for not taking action against the alleged AIMIM workers, attributing the situation to protection from the ruling Congress government.
