Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi are slated to attend the crucial Working Committee meeting in Patna on September 24th, as announced by AICC Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru this Monday (September 22, 2025).
During a press conference, Mr. Allavaru emphasized the significance of holding the meeting in Bihar, stating that the Congress is currently engaged in what he termed “the second war of Independence” in the state.
He further elaborated on the high-profile attendance, confirming that both AICC President Mr. Kharge and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, would be present. Invitations have also been extended to all other CWC members and Chief Ministers from Congress-governed states.
Mr. Allavaru did not shy away from criticizing the ruling BJP, accusing the central government of “vote theft.” He likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “a student who relies on unfair means to succeed in examinations rather than diligent study.”
Highlighting Bihar’s emergence as “the center of national politics”—a state where Mr. Gandhi recently concluded a significant 1,300-km ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’—Mr. Allavaru reiterated the party’s belief that they are engaged in a “second war of Independence” within the state, justifying the choice of Patna for the CWC meeting. Addressing questions about the INDIA bloc, he confirmed that discussions on seat-sharing are progressing positively and a viable formula is expected soon, contrasting this with what he described as a “disarrayed” BJP-led NDA. Regarding the potential chief ministerial candidacy of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Mr. Allavaru stated that “all alliance partners will collectively decide at an appropriate time.”
This significant gathering comes ahead of the eagerly anticipated Assembly polls in Bihar, scheduled for later this year.
