The Congress party’s top brass is gearing up for a significant strategy session as the Working Committee (CWC) is slated to meet in Patna on September 24th. Sources indicate that the primary agenda will be to finalize plans for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and escalate their offensive against the BJP regarding allegations of ‘vote rigging’.
This won’t be a typical CWC gathering; it’s an extended assembly designed to include permanent and special invitees, alongside the party’s chief ministers, Pradesh Congress Committee presidents, and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders. This broad participation underscores the meeting’s critical importance.
Bihar will undoubtedly be at the forefront of discussions, with a keen focus on refining the party’s campaign strategy, anticipating future electoral challenges, and aggressively tackling the persistent ‘vote rigging’ claims, as reported by insiders.
The CWC proceedings are scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. on September 24th. Every key figure, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi, is expected to be in attendance, highlighting the seriousness of the deliberations.
This crucial meeting takes place amidst ongoing seat-sharing negotiations with Mahagathbandhan allies. It also follows closely on the heels of Rahul Gandhi’s impactful ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ a campaign aimed at protesting alleged ‘vote rigging’ and promoting a special intensive revision of electoral rolls, which has notably boosted morale among party members in Bihar.
In preparation for the Bihar Assembly polls, the Congress had already established its Pradesh Election Committee on September 16th. This committee comprises prominent figures such as Bihar unit chief Rajesh Ram, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, and Madan Mohan Jha, signaling the party’s readiness to contest the elections vigorously.
The much-anticipated Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held sometime in November this year.
