In a landmark judgment delivered on Tuesday, the Chittoor POCSO Court has sentenced an individual to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the heinous crime of raping a minor girl. This decisive verdict relates to a case originally registered in 2021 at the Buchi Naidu Kandriga police station.
The accused, identified as Yugandhar, 23, from Sullurpeta, faced charges of abducting and raping a 13-year-old girl from the B.N. Kandriga area on September 23, 2021. The initial police report, Case No. 173/2021, included charges under Indian Penal Code sections 363 (Abduction) and 506 (Criminal Intimidation/Threat).
Following a thorough trial, the POCSO Court delivered its final verdict, not only sentencing Yugandhar to two decades of rigorous imprisonment but also imposing a substantial fine of ₹6,500.
