Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to participate in the solemn Police Commemoration Day ceremony at Goshamahal Police Stadium on October 21st. The event, scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m., will feature an address by the Chief Minister, as confirmed by Director General of Police B. Shivanand Reddy.
Director General of Police B. Shivanand Reddy announced that Police Commemoration Day observances will extend across Telangana from October 21st to October 31st, encompassing a series of heartfelt remembrance programs statewide. These tributes will culminate on National Unity Day, October 31st, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
This year, the nation mourns the loss of 191 police personnel who tragically fell in the line of duty across India, including five from Telangana. This significant day has been observed annually since October 21, 1959, commemorating the ten brave CRPF personnel martyred at Hot Springs in Ladakh. They lost their lives during a surprise assault by Chinese forces while on patrol under the command of Sub-Inspector Karan Singh.
To honor these heroes, Telangana Suraksha will release a special booklet detailing the exceptional bravery and dedication of police personnel who sacrificed their lives last year. Furthermore, posters and hoardings will be prominently displayed at key public locations throughout the state as a tribute to the fallen martyrs.
From October 22nd to 24th, police families of the deceased personnel will receive visits, aimed at addressing their welfare concerns and offering heartfelt tributes at memorials in their native villages. Additionally, blood donation drives will be organized statewide at the DGP Office, Commissionerates, district headquarters, and various TGSP battalions, with support from the Indian Red Cross and local police cultural teams.
To further foster unity and peace, cycle rallies are planned across different districts between October 25th and 27th. Complementing these efforts, police bands will deliver public performances at popular venues, including Tank Bund, every weekend throughout this commemorative period.
