Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently lauded Chhattisgarh’s incredible 25-year transformation, highlighting its journey from a state once synonymous with Maoist violence and underdevelopment to a shining example of prosperity, security, and stability.
He further emphasized that a Legislative Assembly transcends its role as a mere law-making body, serving instead as a dynamic core for charting the state’s destiny.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, PM Modi asserted that every deliberation within its walls should embody public service, a dedication to development, and a firm belief in advancing India’s future.
He stated that the true essence of this new Assembly building’s inauguration stems from a shared commitment to diligent duty and the preservation of democratic principles.
“It is imperative for all of us to recognize that this Legislative Assembly is far more than a law-making institution. It is a vibrant epicenter and a driving force for shaping Chhattisgarh’s future. Consequently, every idea generated here must resonate with public service, a determination for progress, and an unwavering faith in India’s ascent to new pinnacles,” he urged.
“Our mission is to construct an India, and specifically a Chhattisgarh, that advances along the path of development while deeply cherishing its heritage. The principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ [Citizen is God] is the guiding tenet of our good governance,” he added.
He advocated for the creation of laws that foster swift reforms, simplify citizens’ lives, and eliminate undue government intrusion. He stressed the importance of finding a balance, ensuring neither a void of governance nor excessive interference.
PM Modi proudly noted India’s success in countering terrorism and left-wing extremism, declaring, “India has effectively neutralized terrorist networks. Similarly, Chhattisgarh is steadily progressing towards freedom from Maoist violence.”
Reflecting on the past quarter-century, he stated, “Chhattisgarh’s transformation has been truly inspiring. Once characterized by Maoist insurgency and underdevelopment, it has blossomed into a beacon of prosperity, security, and stability. The tide of progress and optimism has now reached even the most remote, previously Maoist-affected regions.”
This remarkable change, he affirmed, is a testament to the dedication of Chhattisgarh’s people and the foresight of successive BJP administrations.
The Prime Minister underscored India’s foundational role as the ‘mother of democracy,’ noting how the revered Sengol (sceptre) serves as an inspiration for Parliament, and the new Parliament’s galleries showcase India’s democratic heritage to the global community.
He further added that India is advancing by harmonizing its rich heritage with modern development, a philosophy deeply embedded in every government policy and decision.
PM Modi highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s 25th foundation day celebrations signify not just an anniversary, but the commencement of an even grander objective.
“By 2047, as India commemorates a century of independence, Chhattisgarh is poised to play an indispensable role in realizing the vision of a fully developed nation,” he declared.
The event also included PM Modi unveiling a statue of the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee within the newly constructed Assembly premises.
