The vibrant spirit of Chennai shone brightly as the city hosted its 17th annual Terry Fox Run at Island Grounds. The event witnessed an incredible turnout, with more than 5,000 individuals registering to participate. Organized meticulously by the Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME), the primary goal was to generate essential funds for ongoing cancer research at the esteemed Cancer Institute (WIA) located in Adyar.
The run was officially flagged off by former Director General of Police C. Sylendra Babu and popular actor Harish Kalyan, adding celebrity support to the noble cause. Also present were prominent leaders from the Rotary district, dedicated doctors from the cancer center, and members of the Dube family, who were instrumental in bringing this inspiring event to Chennai back in 2009.
Balaji Sreenivasan, President of the Rotary Club of Madras East, emphasized the profound impact of the event, noting how the Terry Fox Run has evolved over the years into a powerful community movement, consistently rallying support and resources for vital cancer research.
