The much-awaited results are in! The Dasara Festival Committee has officially announced the winners for the most outstanding tableaux that graced the magnificent Jamboo Savari procession, a highlight of the celebrations held in Mysuru on October 2.
This year’s competition was particularly thrilling, featuring a new structure with division-wise awards for districts, alongside a special category for various Boards, Corporations, and both Central and State government institutions. A grand total of 58 captivating tableaux paraded through the streets, each a testament to the artists’ dedication in crafting creative, informative, and truly innovative displays that mesmerized hundreds of thousands of spectators at the Dasara finale.
Breaking down the results by division, the Bengaluru region saw Chitradurga claim the top spot with its powerful tableau depicting Raja Veera Madakari Nayaka. Bengaluru Urban secured the second prize for its ‘Brand Bengaluru’ display, while Tumakuru took third place with ‘Namma Tumakuru,’ a vibrant showcase of modern and ancient architectural harmony.
Moving to the Mysuru division, Chamarajanagar district proudly earned the first prize for its thought-provoking tableau, ‘Development with Respect for Nature.’ Dakshina Kannada captured the second spot with a vibrant portrayal of traditional sports, and Chikkamagaluru rounded out the top three, highlighting the district’s rich intellectual heritage.
For the Kalaburagi division, Bidar district emerged victorious, taking first prize for its impressive tableau featuring the historic Bidar Fort. Koppal was awarded second prize for its beautiful representation of traditional Kinnal Art, and Vijayanagara claimed third, spotlighting the unique specialties of its region.
In the Belagavi division, Gadag district clinched the first prize with its striking tableau of Jodu Kalasada Gudi. Dharwad earned the second prize, presenting a diverse display that included the national flag-making unit at Garag, traditional cradle making at Kalaghatagi, and the renowned Navalgund Jamkhanas. Belagavi district’s intricate ‘Sri Mahakali Mayakka Devi – Pragati Tatva Sangona’ tableau secured the third position.
In the special category for Boards, Corporations, and Central/State government institutions, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) soared to first place with its impressive tableau. The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences earned the second prize for its crucial ‘drug-free campus’ awareness campaign. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board was recognized with the third prize for its tableau promoting a clean environment.
Beyond the main categories, two well-deserved consolation prizes were also distributed: one to the Tourism Department for its enchanting ‘Anjanadri Betta’ tableau, and another to the Karnataka Thanda Development Corporation for its commendable effort.
The procession wasn’t just about the tableaux; it was a feast for the senses, brought to life by over 90 vibrant folk and cultural troupes. Spectators were captivated by energetic performances from groups like Veeragase, Dollu Kunita, Jhanz Pathak, Somana Kunita, Jaggalagi Mela, Donne Varase, Kangilu Kunita, Sattige Kunita, Halage Mela, Halakki Suggi Mela, Puja Kunita, Karadi Majalu, Hejje Mela, and Tamate Nagari. The most outstanding of these troupes also received special recognition and awards.
