In a brazen incident, the Lucknow home of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Mahendra Kumar Srivastava was burgled. The theft is estimated to have taken place sometime between October 21 and October 25, with the family discovering the ransacked state of their Aliganj residence on the morning of October 26. According to the FIR lodged by Srivastava’s wife, the burglars made away with ₹2 lakh in cash and a substantial collection of jewelry.
The stolen items included an array of valuable pieces, such as eight bangles, eleven chains, two lockets, two diamond sets, and five pendants, among other treasures. Following the discovery, the Lucknow Police promptly registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and further details are awaited.
In a separate incident that highlights concerns about law and order, three police officers, including a Sub-Inspector, have been suspended in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. This action follows the death of an individual who was allegedly assaulted by a group of people who mistook him for a thief. The police have arrested five individuals in connection with the case, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
