In a testament to their swift action and unwavering courage, police forces in Andhra Pradesh successfully rescued two individuals during separate, dramatic incidents that unfolded across Chittoor and Annamayya districts on Friday, October 10, 2025.
The first rescue operation took place in Chittoor, where 49-year-old Sharan Raj, a resident of Mysuru, found himself in a precarious situation. He had accidentally fallen into the Neeva River near the Chennai–Bengaluru Expressway on the city’s outskirts during the early hours of Thursday, October 9. Fortunately, a vigilant passer-by spotted him on Friday afternoon and promptly notified the police control room. A dedicated team from the Chittoor II Town police station, under the leadership of Inspector B. Nettikantaiah, immediately responded. Utilizing ropes and the sturdy branches of a tree overhanging the riverbed, the team meticulously pulled Mr. Raj to safety. He was then swiftly transported to the Government District Headquarters Hospital for necessary medical attention.
Meanwhile, in a separate but equally critical incident, Armed Reserve (AR) constable S. Amarnath demonstrated exceptional bravery in Madanapalle. He intervened to save 26-year-old Chengachari, also from Bengaluru, who had attempted to end his life by jumping into an agricultural well on the town’s outskirts. Authorities indicated that Mr. Chengachari’s desperate act was a result of unresolved family disputes. Constable Amarnath, supported by a special police unit, courageously descended into the well with a rope, successfully bringing the young man to safety. Following his rescue, Chengachari received medical treatment at the Madanapalle hospital and was provided with crucial counseling before being reunited with his family.
Both Superintendents of Police, Tushar Dudi of Chittoor and Dheeraj Kunubilli of Annamayya District, lauded the extraordinary bravery and decisive actions of their respective police teams involved in these life-saving missions.
