In a significant move for agricultural development, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, the Minister for Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, announced on Friday a renewed government focus on fast-tracking Phase-I of the Handri–Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project’s main canal. This dedicated effort is poised to bring substantial benefits to farmers within the Rayachoti constituency of Annamayya district.
During a recent meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Assembly, Minister Ramprasad Reddy passionately advocated for the rapid conclusion of construction along the critical Srinivasapuram–Mandipalli Nagireddy stretch of the canal. He emphasized the project’s transformative potential for the region.
With an estimated investment of ₹450 crore, the HNSS project is designed to deliver essential irrigation water to an impressive 25,000 acres across Rayachoti, Chinnamandem, and Sambepalli mandals. Beyond direct irrigation, it is also expected to play a crucial role in significantly recharging groundwater levels, offering a lifeline to this rain-shadow region frequently affected by water scarcity.
Minister Reddy shared that Chief Minister Naidu has provided a firm assurance. Tenders for the remaining works are expected to be floated in the coming days, paving the way for construction to commence without delay, bringing hope and prosperity to thousands of farming families.
