On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Bombay High Court brought a confident end to a petition seeking to prevent the release of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming courtroom drama, Jolly LLB 3. The plea argued that the film mocked judges and lawyers, but the court dismissed these concerns, stating plainly that the judiciary is quite accustomed to such portrayals.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad appeared amused by the petition and was notably unfazed. They succinctly declared, ‘Don’t worry about us,’ signaling their dismissal of the plea.
The petition, submitted by the ‘Association for Aiding Justice’ via advocate Chandrakant Gaikwad, specifically requested a halt to the film’s release and the removal of the song ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai,’ which they argued was disparaging to the legal profession.
Dipesh Siroya, the lawyer representing the petitioners, elaborated that both the movie and the controversial song extend their mockery beyond just lawyers to include judges. He highlighted a particular scene where judges are disrespectfully referred to as ‘mamu,’ a slang term he described as profoundly derogatory and insulting to the entire judicial system.
The filmmakers further informed the bench that the Allahabad High Court had already heard and dismissed a similar petition concerning the movie, reinforcing their stance.
Jolly LLB 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on September 19.
