Nainar Nagenthran, the President of BJP Tamil Nadu, launched a scathing attack on the state government on Thursday, September 25, 2025, accusing it of intentionally postponing the crucial appointments of assistant professors in government arts and science colleges.
In a public statement, Nagenthran revealed that an alarming number of almost 4,000 assistant professor positions are currently vacant. Meanwhile, he noted that the state government has significantly expanded the roster of guest lecturers to 8,000. He criticized this approach, asserting that instead of permanently filling these vital roles, the government is merely relying on temporary guest lecturers, many of whom are reportedly underpaid. Nagenthran claimed this strategy signifies a systematic deterioration of Tamil Nadu’s education system under the current DMK administration.
Furthermore, the BJP leader highlighted a series of pressing infrastructure challenges plaguing numerous government colleges. These issues include a severe lack of essential amenities such as clean drinking water, adequate toilet facilities, proper hostels, sufficient food services, modern classrooms, and well-equipped laboratories. He vehemently accused the state government of showing a blatant disregard for government arts and science colleges, which predominantly serve students from economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities. “It is imperative that we put a stop to this mismanagement before our state falls into an irreversible state of despair,” he urged.
