In a concerted effort to consolidate its voter base in Bihar ahead of the crucial State Assembly polls, the BJP is deploying a strategic blueprint, drawing inspiration from its successful campaign in Madhya Pradesh. This proactive approach follows the NDA government’s recent announcement of several welfare programs aimed at benefiting the people of Bihar.
A significant move in this strategy involves the reintegration of Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh into the NDA fold. Singh’s independent candidacy in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections had previously proven detrimental, leading to the defeat of NDA ally Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) in Karakat. RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha had openly voiced his displeasure over this “sabotage.”
Recognizing the imperative to prevent any fragmentation of votes in what promises to be a fiercely contested election against the Mahagathbandhan, the BJP’s top brass has orchestrated a reconciliation between Kushwaha and Singh. This rapprochement is a clear indication of the party’s commitment to unity.
According to high-ranking BJP sources, this is merely the initial phase of a multi-pronged strategy to fortify the NDA’s position, dubbed the “Madhya Pradesh model.” Singh is reportedly set to rejoin the BJP and is likely to contest from Ara.

“Consider the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls,” explained a senior source closely involved with the election preparations. “There, the BJP government first unveiled measures like the ‘Laadli Behena’ income support scheme. As candidates were about to be announced, figures like poll in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and even Home Minister Amit Shah personally engaged in areas such as Jabalpur, where significant internal disputes over party tickets existed. Furthermore, seven sitting Lok Sabha MPs, including three prominent Union Ministers – Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, and Faggan Singh Kulaste – were fielded. This move aimed to uplift morale and ensure the party presented its strongest possible contenders.”
In line with this strategy, BJP general secretary for Bihar, Vinod Tawde, diligently worked to ensure Singh remained within the NDA orbit, thereby preventing a split in votes. Concurrently, the NDA government also introduced the “Dashazaari” scheme in Bihar, offering ₹10,000 in support to women. “Now, several senior Ministers from the Modi government, along with some MPs and even MLCs from the Bihar Legislative Council, are expected to feature on the candidate list for the upcoming Assembly polls. Many have already been sounded out about this possibility,” the source revealed.
“The fundamental issue is that since the untimely passing of Sushil Kumar Modi, there hasn’t been a single BJP leader with a commanding influence over both the public and the party organization in Bihar. This necessitates leveraging the formidable presence of our Lok Sabha MPs and Union Ministers in the electoral battle,” another leader elaborated.
The upcoming Bihar Assembly election is poised to be particularly complex, fraught with critical questions surrounding the trajectory of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party and the health status of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In such an intricate political landscape, the BJP is clearly revisiting its historically successful strategies to chart its course forward.
