In a direct response to the devastating floods sweeping across Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a swift mobilization plan. Two dedicated teams, led by prominent party figures, will commence touring the flood-ravaged districts from Monday to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the situation.
The first team, spearheaded by State President B. Y. Vijayendra, includes eight key members: Leader of the Opposition in the Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol, ex-Union Minister Bhagavanth Khuba, and former Minister B. Sriramulu. This contingent is slated to visit the districts of Raichur, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Bidar, focusing on understanding the extent of damage and impact on local communities.
The second team, comprising ten members, will be led by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok. Notable members include former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Arvind Bellad, and former Ministers C.T. Ravi and Shashikala Jolle. Their itinerary includes visits to Belagavi, Bagalkot, and Vijayapura, where they will gather firsthand information on the flood situation and relief efforts.
Addressing the press in Bengaluru, Mr. Vijayendra sharply criticized the incumbent Congress government, alleging a lack of concrete measures to aid flood victims. He asserted, “The Siddaramaiah government is merely sitting idle, seemingly expecting the Union government to shoulder the entire responsibility for relief. Our leaders are committed to visiting the affected areas personally and listening directly to the problems faced by our farmers.” This tour highlights the BJP’s intent to actively engage with affected citizens and scrutinize the state government’s response to the crisis.
