Jaipur: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Sikar, Rajasthan, has been hospitalized after allegedly being forced to consume poison by two unidentified men. The incident, which also involved the vandalism of his car, occurred on Wednesday afternoon as he was returning home after visiting his daughter’s school. Police have registered an attempt-to-murder case under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are actively searching for the perpetrators.
The victim, identified as Lalit Panwar, the BJP mandal president of Laxmangarh in Sikar, was reportedly lured to Hameerpura Road by a phone call from an unknown person asking him to check a plot of land. Upon arriving at the location, he found no one. Shortly thereafter, two individuals on a two-wheeler approached him and initiated an assault. According to Laxmangarh Station House Officer Mahendra Singh, the assailants could not be identified at the time of the report.
During the confrontation, Panwar attempted to intervene when the attackers vandalized his car. The men then produced a bottle containing a white liquid and forcibly attempted to administer it to him. Panwar consumed a small amount, after which he began to feel unwell and eventually fainted. The assailants fled the scene as local residents came to Panwar’s aid.
Locals immediately rushed Panwar to a nearby hospital, where his condition has been reported as stable. Doctors confirmed that the substance he was given was Aldrin, which can act as a slow-acting poison if administered in excessive doses. Police have taken Panwar’s statement and are continuing their investigation.
