Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president, has strongly criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, labeling their ‘Global Ayyappa Sangamam’ event as nothing more than a pre-election stunt. In a press statement released on Friday, September 19, 2025, Chandrasekhar accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of attempting to deceive the public by suddenly adopting a pro-Hindu stance. He highlighted that this shift comes after years of the LDF allegedly disregarding the faith of Ayyappa devotees and implementing policies perceived as detrimental to the cultural and traditional essence of Sabarimala.
Echoing these sentiments, BJP State general secretary M.T. Ramesh warned that the Ayyappa Sangamam risks devolving into a mere political gathering for the LDF. Ramesh further pointed out the State government’s inability to adequately address the High Court’s inquiries concerning the organization of the Sangamam. He urged various community organizations and their leaders to recognize and reject what he described as the LDF’s underlying political agenda behind the event.
