The BJP organized a magnificent tribute to the celebrated Telugu poet Gurram Jashuva at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada. The Sunday event drew numerous prominent leaders, writers, and intellectuals who collectively honored Jashuva as an icon of national pride, unwavering patriotism, and crucial social reform.
Chief guest and renowned film lyricist Anantha Sriram spoke passionately, describing Jashuva as a truly noble and great individual. Sriram highlighted Jashuva’s courage in critiquing societal injustices while always upholding respect, dignity, and national values. He particularly noted Jashuva’s deep empathy for marginalized communities, which he expressed without any trace of bitterness. Sriram also recounted a touching anecdote, recalling how legendary singer Ghantasala once set Jashuva’s compositions to music, revering the poet as a ‘son of Goddess Saraswati’.
A.P. BJP president P.V.N. Madhav hailed Jashuva as a profound patriot and the true ‘voice of the nation.’ He passionately urged the state government to officially observe ‘Jashuva Jayanti’ annually, suggesting the theme ‘Voice of Harmony, Voice of Nationalism.’ Madhav emphasized Jashuva’s powerful patriotic writings, which featured revered figures like Shivaji, Subhas Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and Mahatma Gandhi. He further pointed out Jashuva’s steadfast support for Indian soldiers during the conflict with China.
Former Minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad lauded Jashuva’s significant literary impact, reminding attendees that the poet proudly identified himself as the ‘son of Bharat Mata.’ Adoni BJP MLA Parthasarathi noted that Jashuva’s timeless works continue to inspire society, helping individuals overcome despair. R.D. Wilson, chairman of Telugu Sanskriti Andhra Corporation, described Jashuva as a ‘literary sculptor’ who brilliantly immortalized the glory of Bharat Mata and Swami Vivekananda through his verse.
The celebrations featured a vibrant procession carrying Jashuva’s portrait, heartfelt floral tributes, and a collective listening session of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ Among the many BJP leaders in attendance were SC Morcha State president Panatala Suresh and State general secretaries Nagotu Ramesh Naidu and Matta Prasad, underscoring the party’s strong participation in honoring the revered poet.
