On Friday, October 3, 2025, the BJP launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing Rahul Gandhi of becoming a “flag-bearer of anti-India forces.” The party claimed he was actively promoting their agenda within the country and urged citizens to exercise caution when considering him.
During a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi sharply criticized Mr. Gandhi for recent comments made at a seminar in Colombia. Trivedi asserted that it has become evident the Congress, which has been under the Nehru-Gandhi family’s leadership for over a century, is now succumbing to the influence of “anti-India” elements.
Citing Mr. Gandhi’s statements at a Colombian university event on Thursday, October 2, 2025, Mr. Trivedi warned, “He mentioned India has 16-17 languages. You will now observe his attempts to incite conflict over language issues. Similar efforts to create a North-South divide in the country have been seen before.” The BJP spokesperson further claimed that Mr. Gandhi had become the “jhanda bardar” (flag-bearer) for “anti-India forces” and called on the public to remain vigilant against him and the Nehru-Gandhi family.
The BJP Rajya Sabha MP declared, “Today, it appears that having an Opposition leader like him is akin to a thorn piercing the very heart of Indian democracy.”
He added, “Members within the Congress who are aware of the party’s entanglement with dangerous foreign forces are committing treason. I urge those who are unaware to exercise caution and rein in such leaders.”
Mr. Trivedi also reflected on a past era when the Congress reportedly boasted a more mature leadership.
However, he alleged that the current Congress leadership is “remarkably immature.”
“During the time of Indira Gandhi and P.V. Narasimha Rao, the Congress leadership understood how to engage with the Ultra Left and similar factions,” Trivedi explained. “Today, however, it appears the party itself is being manipulated. This isn’t merely an issue for the Congress; it poses a significant concern for the nation as a whole.”
Without explicitly naming anyone, he then posed a critical question for India’s political landscape and analysts: “If a party, driven by a thirst for power or other pressures, accepts leadership of foreign origin, will this leadership ultimately prove to be a party blunder or a national predicament?”
Furthermore, the BJP spokesperson condemned Congress leader Udit Raj’s alleged labeling of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “a symbol of modern Ravan.” Trivedi stated that such comments against the Prime Minister clearly betray the opposition party’s “frustration” stemming from several years out of power.
He continued, “I merely wish to remind those who supported the perpetrators behind the Rambhakt Karsevak killings that they chose not to attend the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, yet visited Babar’s memorial three times to pay their respects.”
“The public is well aware of who they are,” he concluded. “People clearly understand who embodies the negative traits associated with Ravan and who represents the ‘sanskar’ (cultural values/virtues) of Lord Ram.”
