On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leveled serious allegations against the opposition Congress, claiming they were the masterminds behind the recent protests in Leh. The BJP explicitly rejected the narrative that these demonstrations were a spontaneous uprising led by the ‘Gen Z’ generation.
During a press conference held at the party’s New Delhi headquarters, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra specifically named Congress councillor Stanzin Tsepag, accusing him of being the primary instigator of the disruptive protests.
“Today, in Ladakh, there was a concerted effort to frame certain protests as youth-led by ‘Gen Z.’ However, our investigations revealed that these demonstrations were, in fact, orchestrated by the Congress. Stanzin Tsepag, a Congress councillor representing the Upper Leh ward, is clearly identifiable as the chief provocateur. We possess numerous photographs showing him and his associates actively inciting violence, with some even depicting him armed and advancing towards the BJP office,” Mr. Patra stated. He further mentioned that the BJP had released a video on its social media platforms to corroborate these serious allegations.
Patra did not stop there, directly implicating Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accusing him of conspiring with George Soros, the founder of Open Society. “Unable to secure victory through democratic means, they are actively working to destabilize our nation. Rahul Gandhi consistently incites unrest within India, mirroring situations seen in Bangladesh, Nepal, and currently in the Philippines. What kind of leadership does this reflect for the Congress party? The Congress and Rahul Gandhi must understand that this is Bharatvarsha, a civilization with thousands of years of history. Our citizens are discerning; they recognize the difference between right and wrong. The populace is well aware of the Prime Minister’s efforts for their welfare, and even global leaders acknowledge India’s burgeoning strength. If attempts are made to fracture our country, the nation knows how to react, and its people will deliver their verdict,” he passionately declared.
It’s important to note that the BJP office in Leh had previously been the site of protests demanding the implementation of the Sixth Schedule for Ladakh and calls for statehood. These demonstrations were spearheaded by social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had recently concluded a three-week fast to draw attention to these critical issues. Unfortunately, these protests escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to several participants.
