In a major announcement made on Thursday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar revealed that the state government will extend its ‘Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayta Bhatta Yojana’ to include unemployed graduates. This expanded scheme will provide eligible young people with a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 for a period of two years.
Previously, this self-help allowance was exclusively available to youths who had completed their intermediate examinations. The new provision now embraces unemployed graduates across arts, science, and commerce disciplines.
Taking to social media, CM Kumar emphasized his unwavering commitment to youth development. “Since November 2005, our top priority has been to provide more and more government jobs and employment, while empowering and enabling our youth,” he stated, referencing his government’s long-standing dedication.
The scheme targets graduates aged between 20 and 25 who are neither pursuing further education nor currently employed in any capacity – be it self-employment, government, or private sector jobs. These individuals, actively seeking work, will now be able to benefit from the monthly stipend.
Chief Minister Kumar expressed his hope that this allowance would serve as a crucial support, enabling young beneficiaries to pursue essential training and prepare effectively for competitive examinations, thereby securing their future.
He further elaborated on the state’s broader vision, reiterating the ambitious goal of generating one crore government jobs and employment opportunities for the youth within the next five years. To achieve this, extensive skill development training programs are being implemented to equip young people with the necessary skills for various sectors.
The ultimate objective behind these initiatives, as outlined by Nitish Kumar, is to ensure maximum employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The aim is to foster a generation of educated, self-reliant, skilled, and employment-oriented individuals who can make a significant contribution to both the development of Bihar and the nation as a whole.
