Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera confirmed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, that there are no disagreements regarding seat sharing within Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan. He assured that all alliance partners are committed to jointly contesting the upcoming Assembly elections.
Khera emphasized that every party within the alliance has the fundamental right to voice its opinions and perspectives. This statement comes just one day after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) issued a request to the INDIA bloc, demanding a decision on seat allocations for the Bihar polls by October 14, failing which the JMM indicated it would make its own arrangements.
Addressing reporters at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport, Khera, who heads the Congress’s Media and Publicity Department, asserted, “In Bihar, there is no hitch in seat sharing within the Mahagathbandhan, contrary to what the BJP might hope. Every party has the right to express its views, and we will absolutely fight this election together as a united front.” Khera was in Ranchi to participate in a discussion focusing on ‘tribal rights in Constitution versus ground reality’ at St. Xavier’s College.
The JMM’s central general secretary and spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya, had previously stated on Saturday that the party expected a “respectful” number of seats from the INDIA bloc and would proceed independently if an agreement wasn’t reached by the specified deadline. The JMM aims to contest at least 12 Assembly seats in Bihar as part of the alliance.
Commenting on the Congress’s pre-election campaign in Bihar, ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ (Vote Thief, Quit Power), Khera described it as a crucial mission to safeguard democracy. “If citizens lose control or the right over their vote, then democracy itself ceases to exist,” Khera articulated.
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with the vote counting slated for November 14.
