In a significant ruling, the Patna High Court on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) commanded the Congress party to take down a contentious AI-generated video from its social media channels. The video controversially featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside his late mother.
Acting Chief Justice P.B. Baijanthri issued this order following a petition filed by Vivekanand Singh. The legal proceedings also involved the issuance of notices to key individuals and platforms, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Google.
EC’s counsel Siddharth Prasad confirmed that the court’s directive emphasized the immediate withdrawal of the video. The Bihar Congress had originally posted the video on its X handle last week, where it depicted PM Modi’s mother purportedly criticizing his political stance.
