The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has suffered a notable setback with the rejection of Seema Singh’s nomination for the Madhaura constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections. Singh, a prominent candidate for the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), had her nomination papers cancelled by the returning officer due to issues with her documentation.
This rejection means Seema Singh, a well-known Bhojpuri film actress who recently entered politics, will not be able to contest the elections. She was considered a strong contender and an important figure for Chirag Paswan’s party in the Madhaura constituency. Along with Singh, three other candidates—independent nominees Altaf Alam Raju and Vishal Kumar, and BSP’s Aditya Kumar—also had their nominations dismissed on technical grounds.
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled with polling on November 6 and 11, and results to be declared on November 14. The NDA has finalized its seat-sharing agreement, with the BJP and JD(U) contesting 101 seats each, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) fielding candidates in 29 seats, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) contesting six seats each. The primary electoral battle is set between the NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U), and the INDIA alliance, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
