Bihar Elections 2025: JD(U) Releases Candidate List for 101 Seats

In a significant move ahead of the high-stakes Bihar assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) party, JD(U), has announced its initial list of 57 candidates. The JD(U) is slated to compete in 101 out of the 243 assembly constituencies as part of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) seat-sharing agreement.

The election schedule for Bihar has been set with voting to occur in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The results will be declared on November 14.

The NDA’s seat-sharing formula, agreed upon recently, designates 101 seats each for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the JD(U). Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will participate in 29 seats. Additionally, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha will each contest six seats. While the seat-sharing has been finalized, discussions regarding the allocation of specific constituencies are ongoing within the alliance.
