In a significant political development, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary made a strong accusation on Thursday, October 23, 2025. He alleged that RJD chief Lalu Prasad intentionally “tortured” the Congress and other allies within the INDIA bloc. According to Choudhary, Prasad achieved this by strategically fielding candidates against them, all to ensure his son, Tejashwi Yadav, would emerge as the undisputed chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Earlier that same day, Tejashwi Yadav had indeed been formally announced as the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial face by the alliance partners.
During a press conference in Patna, Choudhary didn’t mince words, declaring, “It is a black day for democracy, as the son of a registered criminal has been announced as the CM candidate.” This fiery statement underscored the deepening political rift.
The BJP leader further criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), asserting that their previous 15 years in power in Bihar were characterized by “loot, fear, and corruption,” suggesting a period of severe misgovernance.
Looking ahead, the Assembly polls in Bihar are scheduled to take place in two phases: November 6 and November 11. The highly anticipated counting of votes will follow on November 14.
