Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dilip Jaiswal clarified on Saturday that the seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections will be jointly announced by the leaders of the five National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parties. He firmly dismissed speculation and numbers circulating on social media, emphasizing that the final decision rests with the top leadership of the alliance.
Jaiswal stated that the NDA’s central leadership will be responsible for the final seat-sharing announcement, effectively quashing rumors. He highlighted the robust unity within the NDA, noting that the alliance has already made significant progress.
Addressing reporters, Jaiswal commented, “On social media, some numbers have been floated that have been determined between different parties, whereas this responsibility and authority lie with the leaders of all five parties, who will jointly make the announcement. The news circulating is incorrect because the announcement will be made by us… Everything in the NDA is being decided by the central leadership. All this information will be provided by the NDA itself… Everything has already been decided in the NDA. The NDA has moved forward much earlier with rock-solid unity…”
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, echoed this sentiment, indicating that discussions on seat sharing are nearing completion. He added that internal deliberations are ongoing and will be shared with the public soon.
“Discussions with all parties are almost nearing completion… Internal deliberations are ongoing within the party, and all matters will soon be brought to your attention… No one is upset. Everyone has put forward their respective points… Everyone is happy…” Chaudhary told ANI.
The political landscape in Bihar is set for a direct contest between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The NDA currently holds 131 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the Mahagathbandhan has 111 seats.
The Election Commission has released the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections, with polling for all 243 seats to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The counting of votes is slated for November 14. (ANI)
