Residents in Bengaluru can breathe a sigh of relief as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) successfully resumed Cauvery water supply this morning, September 17. This comes after the completion of essential maintenance work on the city’s critical water infrastructure.
The BWSSB had previously informed the public that water supply would be interrupted from September 15 to 17. This temporary disruption was necessary for scheduled emergency maintenance of the vital pumping stations that are part of the extensive Cauvery Water Supply Project.
During the shutdown, citizens had been advised to store enough water in advance and extend their cooperation, as the affected areas were those relying on the Cauvery network.
“We are pleased to announce that the work was finished a day ahead of our initial schedule,” stated the BWSSB. “Our teams worked tirelessly overnight to ensure that the Cauvery water supply could be restored without delay, commencing from September 17 morning.”
The extensive maintenance was undertaken to guarantee the seamless operation and long-term sustainability of pumping stations and major pipelines integral to the Cauvery Water Supply Project. This proactive measure is crucial for providing an uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the entire Greater Bengaluru region for years to come.
