Bengaluru police apprehended a 36-year-old woman on Saturday for allegedly circulating a deceptive video on Facebook. The video was accompanied by a caption that erroneously claimed to show “rowdy menace in Bengaluru,” despite reportedly depicting an incident that occurred in Uttar Pradesh two years prior.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged by Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar. Authorities had recently filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the woman, charging her under Section 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for making statements conducive to public mischief.
Identified as Shahjahan, the accused was tracked down to Konanakunte by the Pulakeshinagar Police. Following her arrest, she was granted station bail after all necessary legal procedures were completed.
