Bengaluru is buzzing with pride as 15-year-old Keerthi M.S., a talented Class 10 student from Vidya Sanskaar International Public School, clinched a gold medal at the highly competitive CBSE National Taekwondo Championship. The prestigious event was held in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, this September, showcasing the nation’s brightest young martial arts talents.
This outstanding victory marks a significant milestone in Keerthi’s budding career. Her parents proudly shared that she is now the only participant from Karnataka selected to represent the CBSE at the much-anticipated School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Tournament. This national-level event is set to take place in Jammu & Kashmir later this November, where she will compete against the best young athletes in the country.
Keerthi’s journey in taekwondo began at the tender age of eight. Under the dedicated mentorship of Master Jothimani Markandan and Assistant Coach Harsha R., she quickly developed a passion and proficiency for the sport, laying the groundwork for her impressive achievements.
Her track record is a testament to her consistent effort and skill. Over the past few years, Keerthi has amassed numerous accolades, including gold medals at the CBSE South Zone 2 Championships in both 2022 and 2023. In 2025, she earned a silver medal at the CBSE South Zone event, which paved her way to the Nationals. Additionally, she proudly holds a gold medal from the 40th Karnataka State Level Taekwondo Championship and is a two-time gold medalist in the esteemed Khelo India Women’s League.
