In a significant move against corruption, Lokayukta Police officials in Bengaluru successfully apprehended a woman public prosecutor on Wednesday. She was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of just ₹1,100. The bribe was offered and accepted in exchange for an official favour.
The operation was initiated following a complaint. A dedicated team of officials swiftly moved in and caught K.S. Latha, a Public Prosecutor attached to the 45th City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH-46) in Bengaluru City. Investigations revealed that Ms. Latha had promised to favor an accused individual in a case by not filing an objection to their bail application. She has since been charged under the stringent Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and taken into custody as further investigations proceed.
