A police inspector stationed at the DJ Halli police station in Bengaluru is now facing serious allegations. He has been accused of engaging in an illicit relationship and defrauding a city-based beautician by promising her marriage.
The victim reportedly uncovered the deception after a year and a half, leading her to file a formal complaint with the Karnataka police head on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, seeking justice.
According to the victim, she first encountered Inspector Sunil H.B. approximately eighteen months ago when she visited the police station to report a financial cheating incident. The officer allegedly took her personal contact details, claiming he needed them to assist her with her complaint. Subsequently, he began sending her text messages, to which she initially responded.
After some time, the inspector reportedly invited her to his home, stating he was alone as his wife was out of town. He then allegedly booked a hotel room. The complainant claims that the accused began a physical relationship with her, repeatedly promising marriage. She further stated that he consistently rejected every house she found for them to live in together.
When Sunil eventually started avoiding her, she realized she had been misled and betrayed. She then escalated the matter by filing a complaint with the office of the Director General and Inspector General of Police of Karnataka.
Doctor Arrested in Separate Sexual Assault Case
In a related but distinct incident, the Ashok Nagar police have apprehended a prominent city dermatologist. He stands accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old patient during her consultation at his Austin Town clinic on October 18.
Following the patient’s complaint, Dr. Praveen Rodrigues was arrested. He has been charged under Section 75 (sexual harassment) and Section 79 (acts intended to insult the modesty of women) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the investigation continues.
