Malleswaram Police in Bengaluru recently announced the arrest of five individuals suspected of a violent assault involving lethal weapons. The incident unfolded just hours before Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh initiated a city-wide surprise inspection targeting anti-social activities.
According to police reports, the attack on the victim, identified as Mohammed Javed, was motivated by a long-standing personal feud. The accused reportedly ambushed Javed with deadly weapons following an altercation at a tea stall in Malleswaram.
Following an official complaint, law enforcement swiftly moved to apprehend the suspects: Afzal Khan (36), Syed Wasim (26), Junaid (22), Syed Hafiz (24), and Salim Pasha (37).
The arrested individuals face serious charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including voluntarily causing hurt (Section 115), voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons (Section 118), wrongful restraint (Section 126), attempt to murder (Section 109), and causing hurt with intent to extort or coerce (Section 191), along with charges under the Arms Act.
This particular arrest aligns with Commissioner Singh’s proactive stance against crime. On the night of the incident, shortly after 10 p.m., Commissioner Singh personally commenced his first night rounds since taking office, overseeing a special drive involving officers above the rank of sub-inspector across 11 city divisions.
This operation follows a significant large-scale raid conducted the previous day by all Deputy Commissioners of Police and Central Crime Branch officers throughout Bengaluru. That earlier raid resulted in the apprehension of numerous rowdies and habitual offenders who had either violated their bail conditions or were found to be involved in drug-related activities, further demonstrating the police department’s intensified efforts to maintain law and order.
