Bengaluru authorities have apprehended a 29-year-old man following an incident where he allegedly behaved improperly with a female traffic police sub-inspector. The event occurred during a routine drunk driving check in Indiranagar late Friday night.
Identified as Aditya Agarwal, originally from Bihar and residing in Akshay Nagar, the man works as a hotel manager. He faces charges under Sections 352, 351, and 132 of the law and has since been placed in judicial custody.
The dramatic scene unfolded just after midnight, around 12:05 AM. Agarwal, driving his car on 12th Main Road near the 100 ft. road junction, spotted a team of traffic officers conducting drunk driving checks.
According to police reports, a visibly inebriated Agarwal attempted to evade the checkpoint by stopping his vehicle approximately 20 meters away and entering Vapour Pub. However, police officers noticed his attempt to escape and quickly followed to administer an alcometer test.
With assistance from the pub’s bouncers, police successfully brought Agarwal outside. When Woman Police Sub-Inspector (WPSI) Kavitha requested him to blow into the breathalyzer, he reportedly caused a disturbance, yelling and verbally abusing her, even issuing threats.
Bystanders and the police team captured the entire incident on their mobile phones, and the footage rapidly circulated on social media. Agarwal was seen demanding that the officer speak in Hindi or English, claiming he did not understand Kannada. The traffic officers then contacted the Hoysala police, who promptly arrived and transported him to the Indiranagar police station for formal proceedings.
