A distressing incident has come to light in Bengaluru where a 27-year-old woman, originally from West Bengal, was subjected to gang rape and robbery at her residence. The horrific event occurred on Tuesday night in the Gangondanahalli area, falling under the Madanayakanahalli police station limits.
The perpetrators, numbering five, reportedly entered the house by falsely claiming to be police informants. They aggressively interrogated the family about alleged illegal activities. The assault and robbery took place between 9 pm and midnight. Following the crime, the assailants fled with ₹25,000 in cash and two mobile phones.
Authorities were alerted to the situation and senior police officials swiftly arrived at the scene. The Superintendent of Police for Bengaluru Rural, CK Baba, stated that three special teams have been formed to investigate the case thoroughly. He added, “We need to interrogate the arrested men in detail to ascertain if the woman and the accused knew each other before. Her condition is out of danger.” The arrested individuals have been identified as Karthik, Glen, and Suyoga. Preliminary reports indicate that in addition to the victim, another woman, two adults, and two children were present in the house during the ordeal.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to gang rape, wrongful confinement, and robbery with an attempt to cause death.
