A group of high school teachers in Belagavi expressed their strong disapproval on Monday after being abruptly assigned to enumeration duties for a social and educational survey.
Teachers reported that they were summoned for training at the HESCOM function hall in Nehru Nagar without any advance notice or their consent, leaving them feeling unprepared and unfairly treated.
“Our understanding was that only primary school teachers would be involved in this survey,” one teacher shared with reporters, highlighting their surprise at the sudden inclusion of high school staff.
Later in the day, Block Education Officer Ravi Bhajantri confirmed to the media that the matter had been successfully resolved.
He stated, “The high school teachers have now graciously agreed to undertake the duty and have also completed their training. We assured them that exemptions would be made for individuals facing health issues, disabilities, those nearing retirement, or pregnant teachers. With these clarifications, the situation has been fully addressed.”
