The Belagavi division of the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has achieved remarkable financial success, generating record-breaking revenue from its leased commercial spaces. This impressive feat is attributed to a strategic combination of innovative technological tools and stringent financial management.
Surpassing its ambitious monthly target of ₹73 lakh, the division proudly reported a collection of ₹78 lakh, a figure that includes previously outstanding arrears. This substantial income flows from 174 shops and businesses operating within NWKRTC properties. The implementation of the new E-Malige mobile application has been a game-changer, streamlining collection, accounting, and data management processes significantly. This digital tool was rolled out across all nine divisions of the corporation in September 2025.
Adding to this success, the Belagavi division has already secured nearly 80% of its October rent, demonstrating remarkable efficiency. Officials have also made significant progress in recovering long-standing arrears, a task greatly simplified by the new app. Divisional Controller K.L. Gudennavar highlighted how the E-Malige application has drastically cut down on paperwork, freeing up staff to proactively address outstanding payments and other administrative matters. He noted that the previous manual system led to considerable time wastage for both the corporation and its commercial tenants. Now, automated payment alerts, timely demand generation, and receipt sharing benefit both parties, while real-time monitoring of arrears allows officers to effectively tackle delayed payments.
In recognition of this outstanding performance, NWKRTC Managing Director M. Priyanga presented letters of commendation to senior officers K.L. Gudennavar and transport officer Devakka Nayak during a ceremony in Hubballi on Thursday. The commendation specifically acknowledged the division’s achievement in significantly boosting commercial income from its licensed outlets for the month of September.
