The Bapatla district administration has sprung into action, establishing 27 rehabilitation centers to offer shelter and essential support to families impacted by the escalating floodwaters of the Krishna River. District Collector V. Vinod Kumar confirmed that all relevant departments are on high alert, dedicated to safeguarding residents in low-lying areas.
A substantial effort is underway to relocate 5,783 families, totaling 14,391 individuals, from 27 vulnerable habitations. With 188 rooms already prepared, these centers can comfortably accommodate up to 19,920 people. On Monday, Collector Vinod Kumar, accompanied by Repalle RDO N. Rajyalakshmi, DM&HO Dr. Vijayamma, and DPO Prabhakar Rao, personally visited several government schools in villages like Penumudi, Bobbarlanka, Piratlanka, and Lankevanidibba, where these crucial flood relief centers are now operational.
During his interactions with the affected residents, Mr. Vinod Kumar offered reassurance, emphasizing that officials would be stationed at these centers around the clock to promptly address any needs. He issued clear directives to medical teams, ensuring a constant supply of medicines and healthcare services, while sanitation crews were tasked with maintaining impeccable hygiene standards throughout the facilities.
Earlier in the day, the Collector had conducted a thorough review of the flood situation in Penumudi and verified the readiness of boats designated for emergency rescue operations. He strongly advised all families to remain safely within the rehabilitation centers until the floodwaters recede to manageable levels.
