Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has strongly asserted that Telangana’s Gram Panchayat administration has utterly collapsed. He accuses the current Congress government of not releasing a single rupee to village panchayats throughout its nearly 22-month tenure.
Speaking to key party functionaries in Karimnagar on Friday evening, Mr. Sanjay painted a dire picture of the financial situation. He stated that the Congress government has withheld funds to the point where even basic necessities like diesel for garbage collection tractors in gram panchayats across the state are not being provided. He further highlighted that the failure to conduct gram panchayat elections for over a year and a half has led to a complete halt in central funds.
According to Mr. Sanjay, a widespread sense of anger and disappointment is palpable among all segments of the population against the ruling Congress. This resentment stems from the government’s perceived failure to deliver on its election promises, leaving citizens eager to express their dissatisfaction at the upcoming local body polls, particularly regarding the weakening of gram panchayats.
The Union Minister emphasized that genuine village development is only possible with the robust support of the Central government. He dismissed the opposition, stating, “Even if Congress were to win, the State government has no money left to provide. Voting for BRS is effectively a wasted vote.” He confidently predicted that the BJP would secure victories in both the Karimnagar and Rajanna Sircilla zilla parishads in the forthcoming elections.
